It was based on a lengthened DB5 chassis and in many respects, its styling and bodywork was similar to the DB4 with the exception of the rear of the car which was somewhat modified.
The engine was a 4 litre straight six producing 282 brake horse power which gave it a top speed of over 240 miles per hour and acceleration to 60mph from a standing start of just over 8 seconds.
Other versions produced included the DB6 Vantage model whose upgraded engine and Weber carburettors gave it 325 break horse power, and the convertible Volante model.
